The strangest thing about it for me is that if I connect wirelessly to my router, and open Firefox while downloading, my speed doesn't change!! So this is only an issue when using my ethernet cable straight from the router (no powerline adapters or anything). Not too sure if this means anything but the fact is I get my full speed on both PCs (I'm plugged directly into my router), however this new one seems to operate differently and I never had the Firefox issue on my previous PC (so I don't think it's strictly a FIrefox issue). However when compared to my previous PC (I still have this right next to me), it shoots immediately up to max speed.

If I run a speed test, I do manage to get full speed - I will point it that it builds up gradually. When downloading through Firefox specifically, my speed initally goes up to full, and then gradually (and quickly) falls down to say 15 to 20 MB/s. Firefox though, and it immediately drops. The same things happen in another software to download games (Steam) - running at max speed, I open Chrome and nothing happens. If I close Firefox, my speed shoots right up. I'll admit, I didn't know a lot about what it does, but I was setting everything back to default settings if I noticed no change (this is the only one that did show a change for me).įast forward a week later, and I had noticed that a software I use for downloading gaming mods (Vortex) was also downloading at a slower speed - here is where I started to make the connections to Firefox. Everything seemed to work ok and left it at that. The only fix I could find to get that issue resolved was to switch from "auto-detect" in my gigabit master/slave settings. On day one, I was downloading a game and realised my speed was only going at around 20MB/s (just under half my max speed). I have a new PC and everything works great (I'll post the specs below, should they help). Newbie here, but hoping for some help, please!
